My boyfriend and Magical toy store

I know…..I know…..he’s a bit young. Ok……very young. Alright, we look like younger versions of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. But he’s sooooo adorable!!! Besides, I have his mother’s approval. His mother is relieved someone wants her son, so he can be taken care of all his life.
G’s mother also sent me a few pictures of his drawings. He has developed a love for drawing recently.

All the vehicles he could think of. Cars, train, school bus, helicopter, lorry….see if you can spot them.

His uncle and grandfather smoke. He went to his uncle and said, “Ah pek, no smoking.” He told his grandfather, “Ah gong is eating Malboro.”

G named this house ‘Happy House’, which he wrote below the windows. His mother thought it sounded like ‘Hospital Bahagia’.
By the way, in recent kindergarten exams, G scored 97 in English and 100 in both Maths and Malay. He scored 90 in Mandarin, which he spent 3 different days finishing it as he doesn’t like Mandarin. He completed all test without any external help. For a child with autism, it is a big achievement!
On another note…..when I was a kid, I’ve always imagined my soft toys to wake up when I was asleep, to come alive and have tea party. I tried not to show favouratism to any toy so that the toy won’t get ‘bullied’. If you grow up with Enid Blyton books, you will certainly know what I’m talking about =)
This childhood nostalgia is what drove me to watch Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.
Besides the fact that it’s about a magical toy store (which means, the toys move on its own), the casts attracted me. Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman starred in this film. The storyline is ok but I love the conversations.
243-year-old Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman) described himself as a toy impresario, wonder aficionado and avid shoe-wearer. He was about to hand over his toy store to his low-self-esteemed store manager, Molly Mahoney. Some of the memorable lines from the movie.
Magorium: I’ve hired an accountant.
Mahoney: What?!
Magorium: It’s a cross between a counter and a mutant.
Magorium: Your life is an occasion, rise to it.
Mahoney: Are you dying?
Magorium: Light bulbs die, my dear. I am departing.
Henry (Accountant): When you say magical, do you mean special?
Mahoney: Magical
Henry: What about unique?
Mahoney: Magical.
Henry: What about…really really cool?
Mahoney: MAGICAL!
If you intend to watch this movie, do stay through the credits. It’s pretty cool and creative. Each character was given a description. Examples:
Dustin Hoffman – Mr. Edward Magorium, Avid Shoe-Wearer
Zach Mills – Eric Applebaum, the Hat Collector
Isaac Dunford – Jason, Who’s a Little Too Curious
I especially love the way they introduce the team of people who work behind the scenes:
The people who make them look good
The people who created things that were there
The people who created things that weren’t there
They stand for visual effects, make-up and props. Go figure which is which =)

Leng chai wo…haha!
he’s cute
Hey Jun Ling and Jaime, am so glad to have your ‘approval’. I do have great taste, don’t I? Haha! Jaime, thanks for all the encouraging comments. How are you?

Hey Nadin, of cos I remember you. We were in the same class in primary school as well. And we exchanged a lot of books, typically Malory Towers, not sure if you remember that. How are you and where are you? Am surprised to see you commenting here.
